Quarantine and COVID-19 Test
On arrival we will ask you to take a Covid-19 test and to isolate in your room. Results will take 24 hours. Students testing all clear will be able to move around within their flat if they are subject to UK government quarantine or move around more freely if they are not.

If you are required to undertake quarantine for 14 days on arrival, please plan for this bringing any essentials including medication needed with you. MPW and KSS use Microsoft Teams for online lessons and for online meetings, please look to install this on your devices in advance. KSS will also use WhatsApp students should download this to their device in advance.

What to bring with you

Clothes
The UK can be quite warm in September, but it is heading into the cooler months and as the days shorten the temperature will fall away. Please therefore bring a mix of clothing for both warm and cooler weather. Good quality waterproof clothes are also essential for when the weather turns wet.

Adaptor plug
Any electrical item will need a 3-pin fused plug to work in the UK. Remember to bring a suitable adaptor for hairdryers, phone/laptop chargers, etc. UK sockets use 240v mains power so please check that your electrical items will work on this voltage. We will need to check your adaptors to make sure these comply with UK safety regulations.

Cash
It will be useful to make sure that you have some British Pounds (GBP) with you on arrival to cover any urgent purchases. Please note that the College will be able to provide a letter of introduction so that you can quickly open a UK bank account once term has started.

Medicine and toiletries
Please make sure you have any essential or prescribed medication with you, as well as any of your preferred brand of toiletries.

Bed linen and towels
These will be provided in your room for the duration of your stay.

Kitchen utensils
Your will have access to a kitchen which is equipped with a microwave, fridge and oven. We will provide essential equipment (plates, cutlery, saucepans etc) which you may wish to supplement once you have settled in.

Getting to Cambridge

By Taxi

You should ensure that the Taxi is COVID secure (regularly sanitised, driver wearing a mask) and that you wear a fresh mask for your journey. Taxis from Heathrow / Gatwick to Cambridge will cost between £140 - £200 when booked in advance. Taxis from London Stansted will be less.
